HAPPY BLACK FRIDAY!!! Hope you all are up and ready to go to get your bargain shopping on! Since it's the biggest shopping day of the year I figured I'd give some tips on shopping smart! I recently read an article in People Stylewatch about this so decided to research a bit and give you guys the best of the best on advice for ways to save!
1. AVOID THE MALL:
By shopping in small boutiques (like S&T) or specialty stores you can get chic brands and unique items for less.
2. SHOP BETWEEN MON-THURS:
Stores are often less crowded during weekdays, and you are able to get more attention from salespeople.
3. PAY CASH.
Leave the credit cards and check books at home! You will only be able to spend the cash you have allowed yourself to bring therefore helping eliminate over-spending.
4. SIGN UP & CHECK $$$-SAVING BLOGS:
Get on a store's mailing list to receive e-mail blasts of events, sales and inside scoop of deals! Also turn to savy bloggers for in the know sale info! Like me ;)
5. BECOME A MEMBER:
At S&T and 4th & Ocean we now have VIP cards. Every visit you receive one punch for your purchase (minimum of $30 required). Once you fill a card with 10 punches you then receive 30% off your ENTIRE next purchase! Card can be used at BOTH stores!
6. KNOW THE REFUND AND EXCHANGE POLICY of a store before you buy a gift.
7. CREATE A BUDGET:
Weight your expenses and know how much you CAN spend NOT how much you're going to spend. Avoid impulse buys!!!
8. START WITH THE SALE RACK:
First things first - check the sale items! You never know what you're going to find! You could find an amazing dress that will work for you. Even if it's a size bigger, if it's only $10 you can pay another $10 or less to get it altered and be amazing.
Always ask the sales associates if there's any discounts or sales going on. Not everything may be posted or may have been overlooked. Also ask if there's any sales, events or specials coming up soon!
10. SHOP ALONE:
Shopping with friends and others may increase your purchases.
There are some tips to shopping smart!!! When in doubt after using those 10 ideas always consider VALUE! Ask yourself these 5 questions....
1) Use: how often will you use the product.
2) Duration of use: for how long will you use it.
3) Resale value: can you sell the product later and reduce your overall cost.
4) Pleasure or improvement of your production.
5) Price should be evaluated based on above.
HAPPY BLACK FRIDAY!!! Get out there and put what you've learned to work!!
